A little background about Mike. He was born and raised Oregonian. Graduated as an electronic engineer from Oregon State way back in 1965. He worked 33 years for Motorola as a test engineer and equipment designer in the Semiconductor Sector. He has been retired since 1998 enjoying his free time and projects.
After retiring he completed a metal building “BarnDominiun” near Smithville, TX and that is his current QTH. He did the work himself!
His amateur radio interests started way back in collage, but he waited until after retiring and spent a year working on the code to pass 5 WPM. When code competent, in 2004, he went down and took all four elements of the FCC exams at one setting and became an Extra being issued the call AD5SU. He spends winters at his residence is in Smithville, Texas and spends summers in Williams, Arizona where the elevation is 7000 ft. It is much cooler there escaping the TX heat! He would often ride his mountain bike on the trails and up the mountains around there receiving the nickname “Bike Mike”. He spends time on 2, 20, 40, and 75 meters.
