Winter Field Day, 2025

On January 24 and 25, 2025, we participated in Winter Field Day. Setup was on the 23rd and we have shared some of the antenna setup here as well as some pics from the Bastrop High School NJROTC building. It’s a privilege to use that building, especially when it is 20 degrees outside!

Here is our certificate of participation for the weekend.

The club call sign with contest Class 3I (3 stations Inside) and location, STx (South Texas), posted above the HF station.

The estimated contacts this year were

  • HF – 321
  • CW – 6
  • F8 – 115

The contest runs for 48 hours so some members spent the night in the building making contacts.

One of the goals this year was to make a repair on the antenna that is part of the permanent NJROTC installation.

Why do we do this? The main goal is to make as many contacts as possible during the contest, but it also allows us to setup our equipment away from home as a part of disaster preparedness using only battery power for operation.

The club has an official monthly meeting the second Saturday of each month. We meet at El Nuevo Mexico off of Childers drive in Bastrop. Join us at 8 and order breakfast or show up at 9 for the regular meeting.
